Orlando, FL – December 2020 – A Gift for Teaching (AGFT), Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies, recognized three local students with their annual Grant A Wish surprise. PJ (1st Grade), Yelise (7th Grade), and Anagelli (12th Grade) were nominated by their teachers for their hard work and outstanding attitude, despite difficult circumstances and hardships.
Although the festive in-person celebration event was cancelled to maintain the health and safety of A Gift for Teaching teachers, students, volunteers, supporters, and staff; the winning deserving students received private individual celebrations in their classrooms before holiday break. Each of the nominating teachers safely shopped the A Gift for Teaching warehouse, and filled six shopping carts with nearly $4,000 worth of supplies and gifts they knew would fill their students’ heart with joy.
The surprises didn’t stop there thanks to community supporters Publix and Chick-fil-A Orlando. With their generous donations, these families did not have to choose between a new pack of pencils or a family meal this past holiday season.
More than ever, thousands of students in Central Florida share similar stories to PJ, Yelise, and Anagelli. And every day, these students continue to strive hard for their education and accomplishments in school, whether in the classroom or at home. Help local students finish the school year with success: For every dollar received, up to $10 worth of supplies can be provided to teachers for their students.
